Dasvidaniya : The best Goodbye ever !!!

I have been dying to write about this classic but all in vain, life, family etc etc have taken a toll over my life....ok i sound horrendous... but now i have lost the tempo to write about this movie with all hearts, ok with all the sincerity this movie demands.

The Last Lear : Movie review

Whats to look for : This is indeed a typical rituporno ghosh movie, similar to anatarmahal and raincoat in approach which might not appeal the audience at large who axpect drama every minute from a movie and would not prefer the pace at which his movies go. So if you appreciate slow cinema, art cinema, you would appreciate the staunch reality protrayed in the movie. So you can look forward to brilliant performent by the Big B himself, and another natural and realistic performance by Arjun rampal, the narrator jishu.

The Leads: Well for me the lead of the movie is Amitabh bachcan alone. He pulls through the movie single handledly and the rest of the cast supports him brilliantly. when the movie was about to be released i was takenaback by ABs get up that this gonig to be yet another over acting types performance by him, but i was proved wrong, he was brilliant throughout the movie and deserves a big round of applause. Aptly performing the ardent shakespeare fanatic, Big B was the highlight of the movie,, the times when he narrates the dialogues from few shakespearean classics, its a delight. His most remarkable performance in this movie when he is all drunk and pleading to the director, arjun rampal to enact one last stunt himself, as this might be the last time he is acting. Its a brilliant show, his bengali pronunciation is flawless, and appeals one to all. Even the ones not interested in art cinema can watch this one scene and not regret.

Rest of the Crew: As i mentioned earlier, the rest are just facillitators for Big B, they just act as props for him and support him in his performance. Arjun Rampal is proving his calibre one after the other, at first Rock On and not this, he protrays a dedicated director who can go to all extents to get his shots right.
Preity Zinta, well this lady is not meant for english dialogues, it didnt suit her at all. shes better off playing a bubbly young lass than a wining classics times actress, just doesnt suit her. Shefali Shah is a brilliant performer, and has done what was expected of her well, wife to a bed ridden Harish Ji(Big B), she does her job well.
Divya dutta is the unnecessary element in this movie.She is this depressed nurse at shefalis house, and tags along the other two ladies to cry her heart out. The movie could have very well done off without divya, she is a brilliant actress and her talents were a waste in this show.
Jishhu Sengupta has rendered a very good voice as the narrator and kind of connects you with the story.

The Story: The story revolves around these 3 ladies in the present whining about the the angst they have gone through in their past and present. They are all emotionally oppreseed and totally dejected. That is what the movie portrays. The movie moved back and forth time lines, telling the story of Harish Misra(Harry Baba, Harish Ji), a ardent Shakespeare fanatic, who is approached by and equally passionate and crazy director Arjun Rampal, who wishes to make a cinema with him, to which he agrees. How time unfolds, what happened and why is he bedridden today, whats the matter between the once close frens, the director and harry baba is what the story recites.

The Pluses: Some remarkable performance by Amitabh Bachchan. Yes and may be some good cinematography.

The Loopholes: The film is way too slow paced. I couldnt have seen it in a theatre. There were many things which were left untouched, Big B was never shown shooting for the movie, the movie and the role that he played, of a joker was not highlighted at all, it could have made the movie a bit more interesting and added some elements of interest for the audieence who ask a little more from art cinema to relish it.

Verdict: Must watch if you are a rituporno ghosh or a Big B fan. Otherwise a DVD watch may suffice. My opinion , definitely a DVD watch.

Muzik : The background scores go well with the pace and need of the movie.

Whats new: This is not the regular sattire on the terrorist, portraying how the muslim youth gets involved into terrorism, or how the blasts were planned, this is a story around a few common people in mumbai, how the devastating blasts in local trains on July 11th 2007 effects their life and most importantly the spirit of mumbai.
It is a sattire but not on big issues like terrorism, racism etc, but on the common man, on the way he perceives life.

The Story & Cast: The story revolves around the lives of 5 random people from different professions and each of their lives are affected by the serial local train blast in bombay on 11th july 2006. Soha Ali khan is a News reporter, kk menon is a small computer buisness guy, paresh rawal is a about to retire thola(police wala), madhavan is a upper middle class software professional, and irfan khan is a south indian selling coffee on the roads of mumbai.
Each and every person has portrayed theie respective common man roles to the best. soha, ther tv news reporter finds masala in a emotionally hit family, whose only bread owner has just passed away.. and in a typical Aj Tak manner goes asking them, 'ap is waqt kaisa mehsoos kar rahe hain' yes this is what they do, and when something similar strikes her, the same media glare troubles her life to hell, and theirs nothing left to realize, you cannot feel guilty, all you can do is accept it.
irfan khan plays a least dialogue, a teas seller, who is a southi indian but trying to earn a livelihood in mumbai, bears the wrath of policemen who cannot punish big shots, and finally take out their angst on helpless people like him. He doesnt have big dreams, but humiliation makes him do somethings which he doesnt even know, can cause what to whom, you have got to watch his silent but most impactful proformance. He is one class actor.
paresh rawal, this man should take up roles like this only, senseless comedy just doesnt suit his calibre. He is this 'main in sab se oopar uth chuka hun' attitude cop about to retire and giving free gyan to his junior subordinates. Some of his one liners are amazing.
madhavan is this die hard 'iam in love with my country' guy, who thinks plastic bags should not be used, one should not buy cars for status, instead use public transport, i dont need to go to America kinda guy. His belief are shattered and he is completely shaken by this blast.
kk mennon, a hindu, computer buisness runner, suspects every muslim for all thats wrong in this country, his suspicions and realization of the fact that his beliefs are leading him to enimity and no peace, is what we see from him.

The Cast and Crew: There are a few movies where you just cannot differentiate the leads and the rest of the crew. This is one such in the line. Every actor had a small role to play that has been played beautifully. Ans that is what happens when you have some niche actors like KK Menon, paresh Rawal, irfaan khan. To start with my personal favorites in the movie were irfaan khan, paresh rawal, and madhavan.

The Pluses: Some very small details are beautifully highlighted in the movie, the fear that develops in the common public at after such calamities is portrayed beautifully. The spirit of Mumbai is highlighted with not exxagerations, a point when a bar is open and full even on the night of the blasts and the paresh rawal puns on the reason why they are open... " ...warna SPIRIT kaise dikhegi is sheher ki.." is commendable. But thats how bombay is, thats how the spirit lives...

The Loopholes: Its beautifully portrayed, well directed, details are taken care of, but it is verrrrrrrrrrrrry depressing. THERE shouldnt be so much of dukh at one place please< style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(153, 0, 0);">final verdict: must watch<>

Big Boss Season 2 Masala

Initially i was super excited about writing about each weeks gupshup masala for big boss season 2, somehow didnt feel like coz it was all **** going around in the house, but i guess i just couldnt control, so here iam . But before the gossip session one this i would love love love to mention is about this blog,

big-boss2.blogspot. Whover has started this, i must mention, its a tremendous effort that person is putting, religiously he/she posts every episodes video, ohk all u atheist, yes its not right, not legal etc etc, but then, think of the good thing he is doing for addicts like me, yes i miss an episode and i keep looking at this blog to watch the episode i missed, thanks thanks thanks boss....

So lets start with some gossip... as mentioned in my previous post about big boss season 2 we know who the housemates are... this time its from a wide range of fields and i guess that contributed to the varied and unexpected dramas in the show so early. Yes i had avidly followed big boss season 1 and i must say this has too much of non sensual bakwaas going on right from week one. I don't know how much would i remember and how much will i be able to jot down but am sure i will not miss out on some really juicy sequences that even the grapevine keeps reminding...

Week One, on the very second day the inmates were asked to nominate for eliminations, and it was hilarious, you don't know each other, and you are giving weird illogical reasons for nominating somebody just for the heck of it, so finally Sanjay Nirupam and Raja were nominated, believe me at that point i was so happy that raja was nominated, i had seen him in nach baliye and somehow i didn't have any sympathy for him, he was weird, and the guppebaaz me used to think that may b becoz he is so weird and nautanki types, thats the reason his wife disowned him, well i was wrong to some extent, that whole week i was happy that he was nominated and wanted sanjay nirupam to stay becoz i thot he would be able to create more drama, raja was so quite, didnt really expect any drama from him, but oh my my.. he was a shocker, in the next 2 weeks he changed drastically..

You know, on the first week he used to act like SRK, it was too funny, the first time he entered the confession room he was like ... "am i supposed to sit here"... in an SRK style and in a Atal bihari vajpayee speed.. it was hilarious, dude, so what do you think, BB would give a darshan to you, and you have to wait for him to prakatofy onto that seat, oh please, well i know it was too much to notice a thing, but its ok.. thats why i see it right.. to get involved, hehe, and do some time pass...and then give my expert(??) comments.

Well but sanjay nirupam did some bakwaas with sambhavana on the third day about her ashleelta, he dresses, nariyon ki izzat etc, and it was riduculous, ok understood you might get such questions in your mind, but do you really feel that you have the rights of asking such a question to anybody other than people you know very well or are your frens, dude you have met her for 3 days and you are asking a weirdo question no lady would like to answer, so that was it, he was good , simple, wasn't really playing any politics , which am sure would have been the easiest task for him, well its in his blood, the others were cheentis in from o him in this arena, but he was not, but by taking this panga he did one fatka for himself, and he lost it, ppl sympathised to raja and didnt vote for him. Well well i assume that this show is not orchestrated and so are my thoughts guided by it.

Week 1- Sanjay Nirupam was EVICTED. Sad, in the Akhri Salam episode with pooja bedi, he was a gentleman, he could have shut her up for all the stupid questions she was asking, and forgo the whole stuff, but he was really calm and composed and was giving unmoulded and grounded replies to each question, he was a docile gentleman in the show and seemed to be a good man. Age does bring in some modesty, and he proved it, he was the most stable and mature and modest of the lot, dudes, he was the right hand of shiv sena once, he was capable of anything, but he didnt display his powers here and there. Hats off. One nice gesture from him, when monica got a bit senti about her state now, how she badly needs a house as nobody is very willing to keep her on rent, well he was d one whoassured her to get her d help to buy a house, he would make that thing easy for her, jsut coming forward to help was enuf a gesture, later on the 3rd week he even sent a gift for her, hanuman chalisa in english, since she hd once mentinoed that she doesnt know how to read hindi. That was again a nice gesture by him. Adieu Sanjay Nirupam Ji. Not that i miss you on the show but yeah you were good.

By the end of this week sambhavana had started kan bharoing people that rakhi rahul and monica are a group now, and they are planning as to who would be voted out, well well, atleast by what the footages were shown to us, this group seemed to be one bindaas kinds, there might be cases when they were taking out their mikes, well yes may be then they were discusing whom to nominate, but big deal, everybody else was, and they did it in a much dirtier way, and it was getting intolerable the way raja ashu, zulfi, sambhavana used to khus phus and decide to vote others. It was not professional. And they were announcing that they are plannig it out as they started it first, please you are 2nd standard students to play tit for tat, use your brains.

Zulfi was a surpise(rahul roy of this reason), he was such a shant balak in the beginning and suddenly he emerges out to be a planner, well still he is the best among his gang. So finally it was planned and Rahul and Rakhi were nominated, hahahaa, i was happy that rakhi was, becoz she was behaving like a amma, was trying real hard to hook up rahul and monica, even though by that time, everybody knew that theres something between rahul and payal rohatgi. she has started manipulating things, but the day she knew she might have to leave oh my my, had it been in her hands, usne to in dono ki shadi kara deni hi and 1 hi din mein bache bhi paida karwa dene the, believe me, thi was the drama that week, at one point she used to hug sambhavana and be goody goody to her and suddenly bitch about her, well i dont know whether it was the frustration that they were planning against her, or was it that she was faking all this while, i couldnt make it out.

Week 2 - Rakhi Vijan was EVICTED. As she said that rahul has a lot of backing and she didnt, it got proved and she was evicted. i personally was a big fan of sweety of hum panch but , she was not as impressive, she didnt leave very good feelings about her, she used to be i haddd a blasssssssssst, i didnt see that. Whatever Adieu Rakhi. I was happy that rahul was safe, and i knew he would be. she was good in the akhri salam episode, very happily she accepted, mere andar ka sara kammenapan abhi tak maine dikhaya kahan tha, i loved that dialogue..

By this time rahul and monica had become very good frens, and payal was not liking it, oh yeah i forget to tell you guys, shes one back stabber, she was silently voting out her own so called group mates. She nominated rakhi, and ...
So this time obviously it was time for voting out the other two strong candidates from that group Rahul and monica. Hhehe.. it happened, well planned. One funny thing was the way raja ashu and zulfi used to paln out, its hilarious, they would call Debo Dal, paya.. palak .. raita, rakhi, etc etc.. it was funny... things like palak to kharaab ho jayega.. phekna padega jaldi.. haahaaha... This week was a bit confusing, anybody could have gone out.. both had good backing, monica had all the sympathies, rahul as seen earlier has a good backing, well but rahul was safe...

In the meanwhile it was shown that raja had some guilt that he is manipulating things... and he apologises to rahul and monica and reveals to all that sambhavana is the culprit, well well sounds good, that somebody got some brains... raja has a veto power to nominate one.. well he didnt nominate sambhavana though, 1st time he told BB that he feels like nominating her, he didnt, instead he fooled rahul and monika, dont know what was the fact, and why did this all happen... maybe we are not being shown the real clips hahaa.. and we fools follow, well no regrets..

Week 3 - Monika EVICTED. Not really accepted, but happened. I liked monika on the whole, she didnt really open up to all, but ok, not everybody has the openness to one and all, rakhi and rahul approached her from front and she made frens with them, she seemed to be really really mature and level headed and i really really hope she comes back in the wild card round.

So monika is out, i felt bad, but one of them had to, i was thinknig which masala will i like, if rahul goes and the masala b/w payal and monika, or if monica goes and the masala b/w payal and rahul and i decided on the latter... and this backstabber, payal, who thinks really high of herself, is playing good games now, she is one side actress who plays a 2 min role in a movie where a b grade actress like mallika sherawat(well i like her).. plays the lead and dont know what makes her feel so proud of herself, funny is d word for her, and dumb and oversmart without anything to have as a base.. hehe i can go on....

BB gave a warning... that if nominations go as what he has heard in the plans he can vote out ppl, all plans failed, so nominations wrre very weird. too funny.

Zulfi: Nothing at all... poor guy, guess he doesnt know what to do, or he thinks being silent is what he can do...

Ketki: We had seen an amma cum kali avtaar of hers last week, she has become a lil submissive, poor lady... and she is the vice principal of the school in this weeks task... so she is taking her job very seriuosly.. hahahaa funny...

Elina: Nothing, this gurl is dumb, she does a lotsa work, doesnt know how to manupilate, doesnt know how to justify her thouts, i pity on her, i want her to stay back or infact win the show, which is not possible, but still....

Payal: Save the best(drama) for the last... hehe.. yeah shes gone crazy and lunatic since the day shes heard shes nominated .. hahahaa.. yes... shes acting crazy, started wearing smaller clothes, catwalk is more perfect now, has started seducing raja and ashu.. hahahaa... wants to swin without a saronge(yes she shouts that aloud... ).. and takes a body massage from rahul.. hahaha... and yess.. the most funny thing abt her, she would give all her comments in front of the camera or anybody and then say, no comments, no offense... excuse mee....i sympathize with her and so very want her to get D out of this house... plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Bachna Ae Haseeno : Movie Review

Bachna ae haseeno.. well well for all the 'main killer hun' announcements ranbir makes throughout the movie, this one is a disappointment.. and may be thats the reason i had a good wait and went in for a DVD instead of rushing for a 250 per seat multiplex watch, definitely it would have been a big waste, at home, having pop corn and chana and catching up on Big Boss Akhri Salaam with Elina in between, was not all that bad, and thanks to the 1 lt fosters flowing into him, even Garg didnt get bored, infact half way through, i got bored and sleepy, but he insisted to finish it :D.


StarCast: Ranbir Kapoor as Raj, Bipasha Basu as Radhika, Deepika Padukone as Gayatri and Minissha Lamba as Mahi.

Whats new : Its a all-in-all commercial flick, with romance, comedy and bits of many stories stuck together, could have been great, the storyline was a good material for a hit commercial flick, but somehow the cast couldnt do full justice to it... and hence just some timepass comic love story to look forward to.

The Leads: This love quadrilateral seemed interesting at the first go, but one thing is decided and that is Ranvir kapoor will be one of those flop products from the kapoor khandaan, he is too cute to be fan followed... well thats my opinion, am sure there are thousands of gurls going crazy for him, but thats what i think, the leads seem to be inspired by DDLJ in the begining, and i bet, a SRK in this role would have done wonders, which ranvir couldnt. He is not really spontaneous with his shots, and that kills the situation and breaks the flow.


Mannisha Lamba, this lad is getting back to her charmind self after yahaan, first shaurya and now now bachna.., i guess she is getting back in form and is a pleasure to watch. She is one flawless beauty, who looks good when she acts stupid, and thats what shes doing in this movie, doenst have much of a role but is has done her part well.


Bipasha Basu, she is fit to be a bomshell, act a bombshell and say adieu as one, and shes best at that, and yeah shes dont that again, and shes perfect. She does what shes best at, a babe from Ranchi who wants to make it big in the glamour world, way to go bips, at first i thought she looks elder to ranbir, but hey, she was a surprise, the way she has portrayed herself innocently in that part of the movie, she looks perfect with ranbir.


Deepika Padukone, this time worst for the last.. this lady is just not made for movies, OSO was pulled through by SRK alone, and here since ranbir was not al that powerful, the last half became so obvious that these two dont know how to act.

Rest of the Crew: Well whoever played the role of ranbirs fren, oh man he was pathetic, an unnecessary cost to the movie, iam sure the guy who played the fren in jannat and kismet konnection would have done it 1000 times better he is good with the heros best fren role. Kunal kapoor comes in as manishas husband at a later stage, and he comes out as a hilarious looking cute sardaar. Just a thought, why didnt they consider the sardaar from Jab We Met, he would have been perfect, or may be he was approached and he refused, ki har picture mein meri biwi kisi aur ki girlfren ho jati hai :) Sorry for this PJ.

The Story: The killer 'Raj' has this killler instinct.. and supposedly pataofies gurls everywhere he goes. So they are off to find his senorita to switzerland, and hey he finds Mahi, manissha lamba, and mahi finds her Raj(yeah the DDLJ one) in this real Raj.. he dumps her ... has a live-in with bips, Radhika in mumbai, circumstances lead to theri marriage, he dumps her, oh yes, i forgot to tell you, our Casanova Rajj is actually a top notch gaming professional in microsoft .. :) .. then he moves to Sydney, meets this taxi driver Deepika padukone, who dumps him later ... so Rajj D great realizes his previous mistakes, decides to apologize to the ladies he has dumped in past and find nirvana.. and thats the story.

The Pluses: A good plot from a good commenrcial flick, young faces, ranbir and manisha make a cool pair, use the typical dilli wala language initially, so the dilli people would feel connected.. kariyo, jaiyo types, a good eye candy for the guys with the three babes swingling on screen for good 2.5 hrs for you. Free ka trip around switzerland, italy.. A good show by ranbir for all gals crazy for him not for his acting but for his chocolaty looks, yes hi does look so thruoghout..

The Loopholes: Ranbir and deepika are pathetic actors, well pathetic might be an exagerration but not up to the mark... Ranbir is the protagonist come the narrator, and his voice is not so appealing, so it kind of breaks the flow. The microsoft stuff is hilarious at the negative end, and overall the movie is not all that catchy.

Verdict: Ohk Timepass, can be watched at a theatre depending on your taste. I could not have, infact i could have but definitely would have been a waste of money. So better go for a DVD.

Final Rating : Time Pass

Muzik - The songs are not that appealing, but yeah the title track is pretty catchy and is very very good as a ring tone. Believe me one of my colleagues had it and it used to pep up one to all for a few minutes.

A Wednesday : ..Remarkable !!

What to look for :A plain and simple satire by 'a stupid common man' trayed beautifully in a movie without any songs to entertain you, no masala, what you get is what the script demands, by two outstanding performers bollywood had got, naseeruddin shah and anupam kher, it doesnt give you time to gaze here and there, a straight depiction of the script, in the most apt way. I dont want to spill out the story, you ought to watch it yourself to get the feel of it. In all you cal look for a power packed performance by the two masters which would leave an impact on you when it ends, definmitely one of the best movies of 2008.

The Story: The story is pictured in our very own mumbai, where one fine wednesday the commisioner of police, anupam kher is threatened by a stranger, naseeruddin shah, with the news of bombs planted in different places in mumbai, and what he wants in return is 4 top notch terrorist. Now all that happens between 2pm and 6pm, with the fact that if all goes well the bombs will not explode at 6 30 otherwise the common public would be the victims of this math. How this common man brings a terror in the police department, involves the media(deepal shaw as a reporter), and whether the top cop can stop this disaster from happening.

The Cast & Crew: Anupam Kher, as the poilce commisioner of mumbai is strong and has a good impact but gets a bit too over at times which takes of the reality from a few scenes, otherwise he is a class apart actor so his performance is definitely commendable.
Naseeruddin Shah the common man threatening anupam kher about the bomb, perfect, amazing , remarkable, mindboggling performance, one thing i have become sure of is, this man can make any any movie a hit, remember khuda ke liye where he was an one man army, iqbal, i salute to this actor. Jimmy Shergil, the angry young cop, least dialogues yet very effective, he looks best in serious roles i guess. Aamir bashir, has a very less impactful role of a police inspector, but ok. Deepal Shaw as the jounalist and aamir bashir as the inspector has done the small roles they have got well
The Pluses: The main plus of this movie is the outstanding performance by the two leads, you would love to see naseeruddin shah depicting a stupid common man(try finding the similarity between him and RK Lakshmans common man) No uncessary masala to make the movie what might make it a commercial flick, it simply portrays what the script demands, highlighting the loopholes in the system, the powers of a common man if he wants to get something done. Beautiful portrayal is what you get.
This year has seen some refreshing new talents in storytelling like Abbas Tyrewala - Jaane tu, Rajkumar Gupta-Aamir, Kunal Deshmukh - Jannat and now neeraj pandey, too good. The end with some gyan is worth watching.

The Loopholes: Anupam kher had been given dialogues too harsh which gave a feel of army men, but the fact remains that police doesnt speak that language, so it seemed artificial at times. There could have been more powerful actors in place of deepal shaw and aamir bashir.

Verdict: A must watch. I'am sure all of us have that indian hidden within us who would wish to be like the common man in this movie, its just that the question remains, how right or justified is it, whether the system should improve or the common man should take such adverse steps.

Final Rating: 3 1/2 /5

Whats new : Rock on is not just about music, its about life in general, about the complexity of relationships, see-saw life plays with anyone and everyone, and the way these complexities are handled intricately is worth an applaud. Its about 4 freinds, yes reminds you of DCH but no its not a larger than life, imaginitive set up as DCH, its very buch grounded and makes each one of you relate to it instantly. Every aspect is handled beautifully, a must must must watch. Put your hands together for one of its kinds movie of our time.

The Leads: Well first of all let me put forth my opinion about who are the leads, for me the leads of this movie are none, each and every one have done full justice to the roles provided to them, but still 2 lead characters would be Farhan Akhtar and ArjunRampal.
Farhan Akhtar has put up a commendable performance and not a second he makes you feel that he couldnt handle it well as he is a debutant actor. I got bowled over the fact that has put up such an amazing performance and to top it, he has sung all his songs himself, and the dialogues are written by him, oh my my... I have become one crazy Farhan fan dudes and dudettes... all of yuo who agree to me do let me know. Both his Rock age and Business executive looks are classy and he has carried them both in an awesome way.
Personally Iam not a big Arjun Rampal fan, infact after ankhein(where he had played a blind man), I used to find him incapable of emoting anything, but this time arjun has given his best ever performance and the movie couldnt have been this without him. Being a passionate guitarist, but sensitive and incapable of balancing emotions and practicality, arjun rampal has done full justice to the role.


Rest of the Crew: As said earlier they are not just 'the rest' , lets go on as per the impact of performance... Luke Kenny, the keyboard player in the band, most stable and mature of them all, and knows how to keep the group united, as the stort proceeds you would see how passionately he has played his character, he was the best amongst the others. The scenes where he presents his notes to anu malik are awesome.
Purab has always been a sunshine for the roles he plays, here hes been much more than that, hes hilarious, has a depth, and passion, you have got to watch the plates in his beard in the yesteryears, its too cool, and donty forget KD.. killer drummer is actually kedar zaveri... who now runs a jwellery line..
Prachi Desai looks too good, didnt really expect this small screen bani to look so good in her very first appearence, whoever has done the casting has made a good decision, her role demands some poise and level headed person, and she plays it pretty well. Girls you would love to have few of her dresses for sure, go go check out..
Debbies role was a pretty challenging one, being the wife of arjun rampal who has been with him since the band times, was a budding stylist then and is handling the family fish business now, so you can imagine the frustration. She plays it with such confidence, you could so wel relate to her to the ways she reacts to in certain things..Devika has a teeny weeny role but is god enough as a filler. Tanya is adityas ex-girlfren, well if all that was expected from her was to look good, ok mission accomplished, otherwise?????

The Story:

" Rock On!! is the story of 4 friends who put together the greatest band this country has ever seen,but never make it. Years later fate conspires to bring them together again and set them on a journey back to where they left off... a soul-searching pilgrimage into their past. "

-- In the words of the makers and nothing better describes it. I dont want to spill the story, coz you ought to see it yourself to understand how beautifully certain things are handled. How as youngsters they form a reffreshing new band but due to few unavoidable reasons with nobody to blame they part ways, and pursue something they didnt want to get into.. and later how they get back the life they always yearned for.

The Pluses: Relations are handled beautifully, you can relate to one character or the other pretty easily, the fact that guys and gurls are different in their thoughts and theres nothing wrong about it, the fact that if girls dont panic at boys, they do open up and they care for you much more than you can imagine, the fact that there are girls who are level headed, who dont go bonkers about your past relations and todays girls are capable of supporting you both emotionally and financially.. and that hard facts of life can be portrayed in movies without helluva drama.. live your dreams is what they say, yes you got to undestand what you want from life, to be happy.


The Loopholes: Well i have become a big fan of this movie so i dont see any flaws in it... yeah may be the pace and flow could have been better for some, but no i dont want to vouch for it.

Verdict : Rock on ROCKS!!! totaly grounded, emotions, relations and hard facts of life handled beautifully, and sensitively, sensibly...

Watch Out: Some might try finding some resemblance to That thing you Do! as it was also about frens forming a rock band, blah blah but it jsut gives you a feel good.. that you something similar and good again, theres no toher resemblance.

Final Rating: Must Must Musttttt Watch... can watch it more than once definitely.

Muzik - Magic : When music comes from Shankar Ehsaan Loy, well its got to be good, cant we all vouch for it, yeah.. and its proved again, perfect indi rock feeling given by each and every song. You just can stop your foot tapping and hands swiggling to the beats. Even when purab goes on singing a silly english number it sounds super cool, and when sakshi sings ajeeb daastan hai yeh in an amateur way, you love it...
muzik facts: Farhan Akhtar has sung all his songs himself... man i have gone bowled over by this man, he is so so so cool, his husky voice is so apt for a rock band, and the lyrics are by javed akhtar, this is the same man who can write intense songs like tumko dekha to yeh khayal aaya
and neela aasman so gaya...to beedi jalaile....(well am not too sure if it was javed akhtar or gulzar but only one of them could be the one...:))
