Whats new : Just another comic flick with keeping theatre as the base, remember jaane bhi do yaaron, yes it has took inspirations well from this movie, the dead body in a play scene, the goof ups in the play, etc, but it has a totally different storyline, if you call it one. Basically a good comedy with kicking comic dialogues from the king of comedy paresh rawal.

The Leads: Mallika Sherawat, plays Shabnam, wife to paresh rawal and they all belong to a theatre troupe, and she plays the sultry damsel as usual, who should be wearing a kurta and jeans for a scene where she plays a rebel but she insists on wearing a sexy gown (so very mallika a situation). This female is looking better day by day, her movies aren’t doing well but her image revamp is working pretty fine.
Rahul Bose, plays a deewana of mallika who can watch her plays a thousand times just for her. Incidently he is the crime branch or whatever secret agent too, suits him after shaurya… somehow he looks gooood when he acts crazy for mallika.

Rest of the Cast: Paresh Rawal as usual gives his best comic timings. He acts as the dumb husband who doesn’t understand that his wife is double crossing him. His one liners are worth the laughs in the movie.
KayKay menon was a disappointment, well he is one intense actor who is worth great roles, such teeny weeny non sensual stuffs just don’t suit him. Otherwise if I don’t look at his role as D KK Menon, he has been fine with his role. Whoever played salim was awesome, he cracked some really funny dialogues in the play which gave us a good laugh. The rest of the crew was also apt for the small roles they had to play. Tannaz plays a cool haryanavi side actress in the palys, fren to mallika but somehoe couldn’t give the comic hit.

The Story: A small theatre company in Goa has a super hit play Mughle azam, with on the spot alterations in the script, and they help the RAW agent , rahul to crack the RDX rolling for some blasts. This could have been given a good comic flow but something went lacking on the way. Alongside he flirts with the lusty shabnam behind her husband paresh rawal, and she flirts with every passerby in the name of desh bhakti, believe me its too silly. This could have been a perfect plot for a kickass comedy but the comedy lasted only in some scenes, it wants there in continuity.

The Pluses: The mughle azam drama has been enacted hilariously with on the spot alterations to the scenes every other time, slim and akbars secretary are super duper hilarious, and at one point it gives you a feeling that it might be one refreshing replay of the all time classic jaane bhi do yaaron. And of course sanjay chels one liners, brilliantly delivered by mallika and paresh. This gurl is improving I must say, you cannot give a 4 star to her movies but definitely shes working well on revamping her image. She is perfectly silly and fits the role.

The Loopholes: A few comic scenes and one liners rolling here and there donot recreate a jaane bhi do yaaron and that’s where it goes for a toss, the continuity is lacking. Rahul bose as usual looks lostttt….

Verdict : Go for it girls if you want to tado the deep eye rahul bose, he is worth a watch, especially he enters as a raw agent for the first time, wooph.. Guys, mallika as usual looks hot, and sultry, so shes the attraction meter for you, am sure a lil comedy and some eye candy from mallika would not disappoint you. Girls go for it only only if you can tolerate the silly sultry mallika, well for me I have started liking her but somehow the poor gurl just cannot bag good scripts.

Watch Out: Hehe.. its an Indian comedy genre movie, leave your brains behind. Somewhere it gives me a feeling that it is a so called remake of mel brookes to be or not to be, well well a very bad try then.

Final Rating: One time watch, can wait for a DVD, but since there was no other movie releasing that week, it was worth a Saturday evening time pass in a place like Bangalore where you don’t have anything other than movies to do.

Our Pick : The catchy title track, probably the only good song. You can find the music review here itself at cafe talkers
