Mohabbat hai insaan ki fitrat, iska mit jana, mita dena…munasif nahi
Mohabbat se hai yeh kayanaat zinda, Ab yeh shama bujha dena guvara nahi …..

Way to go:Jalsa is locaed right on the Marathalli Outer Ring Road, just after you cross KR Puram, and cross Akme Ballet on your right, you reach Jalsa, it’s a big fort like structure you just cannot miss..

Ambience and Music: Well, the above shayari was not just for the heck of it, it was to get you into the feel of it, a place which provides you with the food, ambience, and look and feel of an era gone by, the mughals, as you can make from the pictures, it looks like a fort, and even inside the whole look gets you into that era, gives you a royal mughal feel, with waiters in mughal robes, and pagdis, olden age kinds ethnic glasses, sitting arrangements similar to the age old forts style, overall the ambience is worth the efforts put into it. They play old hindi movie songs as well as ghazals, they even have a big projector on which they at times on public demand play ghazals etc. For the Kishore kimar fan like me it was a treat, royal food with KK playing at the back.

F&B (Khana Peena):The food is awesome. You have a wide variety to choose from and its not just the name kept very elegantly, each one of them tastes the way they are explained.he menu we ordered for was, Paneer Kurkure (Cottage cheese marinated in a yoghurt based sauce and topped with a crispy covering- yeah hey were super soft with the essence of the marination being obvious), Ghosht Seekh Kabab (Mutton minced, mixed with Indian herbs and cooked in a clay oven – good enuf for a mutton kabab), Sabzi Miloni Handi (Assorted mix of vegetables, cooked in garlic flavored spinach gravy and tempered with cumin seeds- well we didn’t pick all the 1st items on the menu ;), we simply love palak based gravies and this one was a delight, the paneer dishes are also worth it), Nawabi Dal Makhani (Black urad dal (lentils), cooked overnight on tandoor with tomato puree and butter – yess, perfect dal makhani you can crave for, perfect blend of spices after ages I had had.), Bhuni Tangadi (Chicken legs cooked in brown onions with awadhi spices and exotic spices like cloves, cardamon, cinnamon, black pepper, star anise (or potli masala) – garg was super delighted, if he was any non veg crazy can be), and for flat breads, we had a mix of phulka, garlic nan and lachcha paratha, all were good but the phulkas which were a bit whitish in color, not that it was not cooked but didn’t give a very ethhnic feel – I think one must go for other varieties of rotis here) and finally Rabdi Malpua (Deep fried pancakes, soaked in sugar syrup, garnished with saffron flavoured North Indian style thick, creamy rice dessert – believe me folks, you would have not had such authentic rabdi malpua in any rest in bangalore, it was fabulous, we were full else we would have gone for a second one.)

Overall a big thumbs up for the food. It was worth it.

The drinks were a little disappointment, beers all they had that day was fosters, may be our bad luck, but still, not a corona, nor a heinken. Whisky large didn’t really seem like a large. So you would definitely not go there for a drink, but yes the drinks will do their job as a accompaniant for the good food. finally we ordered for a Fosters and a large whisky. I ordered an irish coffee chocolate based drink for myself and it was light and yummy, something I liked about his place, teetotallers get into a fix in rests, if they order for a mocktail or a shake or frappe it gets heavy, this one was perfect, yummy and not so heavy.

Service: The drinks are served fast. The food is also served fast. And the boys are courteous., and manage the crowd pretty well. Another good thing about this place, the waiters don’t just cater to a table, if they find some other tables guests waiting they don’t mind taking the request and passing it on to the concerned boy.

Other details:Ample parking space, good air conditioning, credit cards accepted, good mehmaan nawazi. On a weekend you better go with a prior booking or make sure they let people go inside on turns.

Paisa Vasool: The place is a little towards the costlier edge but on the whole its worth it, its not a place you would go every weekend, but if you can afford it , it’s a good place to chill out and relax. Well relax as in it gets a bit crowded with families on weekends with kids playing here and there but u can always opt for a cozy corner and chill. This is one place you can sit for 2-3 hours and chillax.

Final verdict: Will we go again? Yes - It’s a nice cozy place to get a treat ;) or just chill on a weekend, and if you are craving for good food. Overall the place must be visited atleast once, and iam sure you would frequent henceforth.
